The City Council will upload the 700 items from the inventory of the city´s touristic resources on the net.
The councillors for Economic Promotion and Innovation and Employment, José María Pérez and Begoña Fernández, presented the last update of the inventory, which compiles the details of 700 items both public and private, which have been gathered by a team of workers from the Project for the Improvement of Employment (PIME) and which include vídeos and photographs.
All the information will be shown on the municipal touristic website (www.gijon.info) and it will be uploaded on different social networks gradually. Mr Perez explained that this inventory is a key element in the presentation of touristic information in a structured way. Begoña Fernández added that the team of workers who have participated come from three different sectors within the PIME: Touristic and Cultural Dinamization (12 training employees ); Information Society (27) and Audiovisuals (11).
Amongst other things, she highlighted the route of Saint James Way on Google Maps, created by this team. Besides, they also recieved and solved about 12.000 enquiries in 2009 in four different touristic information points and more than 7.000 enquiries in other events such as the European Maritime Day or Gijón´s International Film Festival. She also mentioned the sector of Attention to Dependency, which is also part of the PIME, and added that there is a project of social tourism for people who are in that situation.
