The Ministry for Science and Innovation will give this status to several towns and cities. The elected ones will be able to host several events related to the world of science and technology which are promoted by the government and will also be eligible to become home of companies and facilities in this field. In order to be eligible for this, the city council will have to present projects related to state funds, that is, those belonging to the 2010 E Plan. The city council of Gijón will present 32 projects wich are being carried out at the moment. Our municipal team is also gathering support from different public and private entities in order to show the committment of the city. The X aniversary of Gijón´s Science and Technology Park, which has been developed as part of a municipal initiative, and the support by the University to obtain the international status could be essential in order to have a clear possibility of success.
