Gijón/Xixón City Council has been selected for the new URBACT initiative from different European Good Practices to transfer the Citizen Card model to other cities.
Gijón/Xixón City Council will lead for 6 months a Transfer Network where other interested cities interested in implementing or improving their citizen card services will participate. Named CARD4ALL, our project will provide access to the city’s services and resources while improving citizen participation.

Each Transfer Network is made of three countries on its first work stage, with Gijón/Xixón being the Project Leader, with Suceava (Romania) and Jurmala (Latvia). During this process the project will have an expert to help the cities, as well as develop new functionalities. Once the six months of pilot transferences have finished, new cities will be able to join the network, thus expanding its visibility and the synergies between the members.

The network is led by Gijón/Xixón City Council, and it will work on the new technologies field, becoming the only Good Practice to deal with this theme out of the existing 25 Transfer Networks that have been selected, since most of them are focused on social inclusion and citizen participation.

The selection of the Citizen Card as a European Good Practice to lead a Transfer Network cements our city’s position in the international context and as a developer of innovative technologies.
